Looks are deceiving

Yesterday one of our dear friends had a birthday. His wife asked me to bake a cake. I was absolutely thrilled to do it, since i love to bake. I asked him what kind of cake he wanted and he asked for a chocolate cake... to be specific a fantastic chocolate cake my mother in law makes. This is the second time I have made the cake.

Sadly the hot as sin weather was not so kind to the cake that I worked so hard on. It melted, slid and looked lopsided. But thankfully looks are deceiving and the cake tasted almost as good as Momma Lisa's. Lets be honest it always tastes better when Momma makes it.

This was also the first time i tried to make a cake pop... that was  a BIG fail. It tasted amazing but as you can see it wouldn't stay on the stick.  Once fall comes i will try all of this again.

Recipe: Momma Lisa's Chocolate cake
2 cups sugar
1-3/4 cups all purpose flour
3/4 cups cocoa
1-1/2 tsp baking powder
1-1/2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt 2 eggs
1 cuo milk
1/2 cup vegetable oil
2 tsp vanilla extract
1 cup boiling water

Directions
1: preheat oven to 350. Grease and flour two 9 in round pans. Sift all the dry ingredients onto a large bowl then add everything BUT the The boiling water. After it's all mixed together add the boiling water.  The batter should be thin.

2. Bake 30 min. Cool completely.

Frosting:
1/2 cup melted butter
2/3 cup cocoa
3 cups powdered sugar
1/3 cup milk
1 tsp vanilla extract

Directions:
1. Mix butter and cocoa. then slowly add milk and powdered sugar alternating between the two until its the consistency  your looking for.  Stir in vanilla.

You really should try it... It's fantastic. I know you can make it look better then mine did   (:

  2. I will have to try this sometime, Blake loves chocolate cake. :) He is kind of a frosting snob though so we will have to wait and see. :)
